On a mission to pare down your belongings ? Here are some great local organizations who would be happy to take items off your hands. If you have some things that don’t fit into these categories, your local Buy Nothing group on Facebook can help!

CLOTHES

Simple Recycling

For clothing that is worn or stained, fill a bag from Simple Recycling and leave it on your curb on your regular recycling pickup day. You can leave any kind of textiles in there, including bedding, shoes and jackets. Visit simplerecycling.com for more information.

Dress for Success

Donate professional clothing, shoes, jewelry, purses, and more. Schedule a drop off today! Donate your new or like-new clothing to unemployed Triangle women. Visit dressforsuccess.org for more information.

Note in the Pocket

North Raleigh Ministries

North Raleigh Ministries takes donations of used adult and childrens clothing. To donate, visit their Harvest Plaza location between 10am – 5pm, Monday through Saturday. Visit northraleighministries.com for more information.

FURNITURE AND HOME GOODS

The Green Chair Project

This organization helps individuals and families furnish their homes as they get back on their feet. They accept gently-used home goods like couches, chairs, tables, linens, dishware, cookware and more, and they’ll pick up heavier items. Visit thegreenchair.org for more information.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

This is the place to donate leftover building materials, furniture, cabinetry–just about anything you’d use in your house. Visit wakerestore.org for locations or to schedule an at-home pickup.

BOOKS

WAKE Up & Read

You can drop books off at their location on Capital Blvd Fridays from 10-4pm, or at one of their collection partners throughout the Triangle. Visit wakeupandread.org for locations.

Raleigh Rescue Mission

If you have old toys, sports equipment, bikes or baby items to get rid of, take them to Raleigh Rescue Mission. They also take clothes, books, furniture, electronics and more, and accept new and gently used items at their donation center on Capital Blvd. Visit raleighrescue.org for more information.

Cause For Paws

Cause For Paws takes donations of dog collars, leashes and other pet supplies. They also have thrift store locations in North and South Raleigh that will take clothes, jewelry, media, furniture and other goods. Visit cfp-nc.org for more information.
